Unsafe Consumer Unit
This old installation was out of the ark. No earthing to speak of; semi-enclosed fuses for all circuits; exposed conductive parts; worn main supply tails.
Safe Consumer Unit
The difference is obvious. A safe, dual RCD consumer unit has been installed and I can sleep at night!
DIY Electrics I
Sockets & switches on metal backboxes on a garage wall at child height. The finger-sized openings in the backboxes make this a very unsafe installation indeed.
DIY Electrics II
You can see the finger-sized openings on this 45A switch; nice. Just at the right height too for curious little fingers to poke themelves into! Mind you, they'd only do it once!
